This isn’t an advertisement for e-Harmony, but hearing of how Taryn Paxman and Andrew Day met, it could well be!
The Brisbane couple, 32 and 30 respectively, met on the matchmaking site and had immediate success. “It was the first date either of us had been on using the online site and also the last,” reveals Taryn. “We clicked instantly and were at ease with each other right from that first date and have been practically inseparable ever since.”
After celebrating a new puppy, an engagement and a new home all in the same year, the beach-loving couple married on April 16, 2016. They exchanged vows at Braeside Chapel on the Gold Coast before heading with 77 loved ones to Tugun Surf Life Saving Club for their vintage beach wedding reception.
Friends and family helped prepare for the memorable day, chipping in to create the bouquets, cake and even Taryn’s wedding gown (including the flat lace shoes!) “My mum made my wedding dress, as her mum had made hers,” explains Taryn. A pair of dainty lace flats were also handmade to match.
The couple chose bright turquoise blue and bright spring colours to style the vintage beach space and had “a Kombi theme that ran from our wedding car through to our table decorations,” explains Taryn.
It was a very “happy and fun” day for this bride and her groom. “Andy and I aren’t perfect but we are so perfect for each other,” she says. “It was by far the happiest and most enjoyable day of our lives together so far!”

The gorgeous flats! “Had to be flats as ‘hubby to be’ didn’t want me taller than him,” smiles Taryn.
Andrew was dressed in a Prussian blue three-piece suit with paisley tie by Roger David.
Taryn was transformed into a beautiful beach bride with the help of Makeup 4 Brides & Hair 4 Brides.
The bridal party popped in their turquoise colours and vibrant spring bouquets.
‘Alfie’ the Kombi from Kombi Celebrations helped to create the summer vintage vibe the couple were after.
Made with love, Taryn and Andrew’s invitations, bomboniere, cake and flowers were a DIY effort from friends and family.
“If I could slow down time, I’d do it all again in ‘slo mo’,” says Taryn. “It goes so very fast!’
