They say mother’s know best, and lucky for Leanne Puren and Trent Fenton, that proved to be true.
The two, both 27, had known one another through their teen years but nothing ever eventuated, explains Leanne. That was until a group of friends attended the Melbourne Cup in 2006. “I ended up in the back of a taxi with Trent’s mum, who decided at that point that I was a lovely girl and I should really start dating her youngest son,” she smiles. “I just laughed her off and forgot about it until the end of the year when we were both at the mutual friend’s party, and after seeing Trent I thought maybe his mum was on to something.”
A few years later Trent proposed in the “sweetest” way possible – hiding a ring inside a Kinder Surprise! “I can honestly say when I cracked open that yellow container I never expected to see a beautiful ring inside,” smiles Leanne.
They opted for a tropical wedding in Fiji at InterContinental on November 28, 2014. Leanne says even though some family and friends couldn’t make the trip, it was the right decision to marry overseas. “It was just such a beautiful, relaxed vibe the whole time and the people are so friendly and warm we can’t imagine our wedding having been anywhere else.”

InterContinental Fiji created the stunning tropical bouquets on the day.
Leanne found her strapless, sweetheart neckline gown with blush pink sash at Nouveau Riche Bridal.
Trent’s dapper look was thanks to Mr Charles Menswear.
“I love that he’s so full of life and sees the joy in so many things,” Leanne says of Trent.
