Proposals aren’t always about grand gestures and over-the-top experiences.
Sometimes, popping the question in the living room while wearing nothing but a pair of boardies is just the trick to get her to say yes! Just ask Michelle McKeown, who was asked by boyfriend Paul Pelliciari is this very way.
“My husband Paul and I were engaged on Christmas Day in 2014,” explains the bride. “Paul was shirtless with his boardshorts on while we were at home casually opening presents together.” Next minute he was down on one knee with one very special gift – a ring!
The pair, aged 31 and 27 respectively, exchanged vows at their classic wedding on February 12, 2016 in the presence of 70 guests. “We were married at Pullman Bunker Bay Resort in Western Australia … the weather was beautiful, sunny, 31 [degrees] and had a bit of breeze which kept us cool and the flies away,” laughs Michelle.
The location made for epic photographs, with the couple able to use the resort grounds and a cliff edge for perfect landscape shots. “Then it was back to the resort for our reception where we cut the cake, popped some balloons, tossed the flowers and partied our socks off,” smiles Michelle.

Michelle’s gown from Hobnob Bridal included layers of tulle to create that princess style.
The boys were dressed by suit experts Roger David.
Lucky for the couple, the beach was just a hop, skip and a jump away for photos.
The bride credits the cool breeze for some of their amazing wedding shots.
