“Dyllan walked through my checkout on October 16, 2016 and two years later on October 16, 2018 I walked down the aisle to be his wife,” laughs bride Michelle.
With three organised events, Michelle and Dyllan, aged 35 and 27 respectively, made the most of having their favourite interstate friends and family in the one place. Celebrations included a hen’s night, rehearsal dinner and a classic wedding.
As a nod to Dyllan’s career as a sailor, the pair tied the knot with a weekday ceremony beneath luscious fig trees at HMAAS Cairns.
Then, with the help of DJ Bart’s Electric Dreams Entertainment, the party continued on well into the night with a cocktail reception at The Boatshed Restaurant.
“I knew planning was key. Getting married mid-week meant that I could have the best team for us on our day. I had the details taken care of by professional so nobody stressed on the day.
“Most importantly, we wanted people to come and enjoy themselves.”

“When Dyllan proposed I knew I wanted a classic, timeless look for us and our bridal party. Dyllan wore his sailor uniform and I dressed in a strapless, three-quarter wedding dress,” says the bride.
“For someone who is notoriously late, I actually made it on time!” laughs the bride.
What better place for a sailor to take his wedding photos?
The newlyweds hosted a classy yet casual cocktail affair for their reception.
