A country wedding was the last thing on Cassandra Storey’s mind when she first met Benjamin Robinson.
In her first year out of school, the Toowoomba bride, 20, met Ben, 23 at church. After some digging around, Ben found out where Cassie worked and had a single red rose delivered to her. Still young and not looking for a relationship, Cassie pushed him away – again and again! Thankfully Ben didn’t give up and eventually won Cassie over. “We went on a date to the Coffee Club, it was the worst date ever,” she laughs. On their second date however, the pair went shooting and that’s where sparks really flew.
A proposal whilst camping at Queen Mary Falls followed, and on February 13, 2016, the couple married in a brilliant Queensland country wedding in the Lockyer Valley. They exchanged vows at Stockyard Creek Hall, where Cassie’s parents had married, and then it was onto Ma Ma Creek Hall for the rustic themed reception.
Together with their friends and family, Cassie and Ben organised the entire wedding themselves. They made the invitations, decorations and cake, and provided an afternoon tea, also catered by friends and family. Their 130 guests were treated to little cowboy boot bomboniere, which doubled as name places at the reception.
A vibrant royal blue was the colour theme for the bridesmaids dresses, bouquets and the groom and groomsmen’s checkered shirts and ties. Cassie wore a white gown and brown leather cowgirl boots, coinciding with the country theme.
In the end it was Ben’s persistence and an amazing second date that won Cassie’s heart. “Since that day our love for each other has never stopped growing.”

Cassie chose a floaty chiffon wedding gown which she teamed with glamorous drop earrings that her mum and sister had worn on their wedding days.
The community hall was decked out with natural elements including a hessian runner, hay bales and tree stumps.
The couple’s rings were from Michael Hill Jeweller, and Cassie also inherited her mother’s wedding band.
The wedding party dazzled in royal blue, and cowboy hats added authenticity to the country celebration.
Cassie and Ben cut into a three-tier fruit cake that Ben’s sisters made and decorated in the country theme.
