The focus of Megan and Waseem’s elegant wedding on the Gold Coast was the coming together of two different religious beliefs and family cultures.
“Our wedding was a mix of cultures,” says the bride. “It was loud, crazy and bright and really was the party of the year with our favourite people in the world.”
The high school sweethearts, now aged 27 and 26, married on July 6, 2019. The celebration of love began with a heartfelt coming together of two religious faiths, held in InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s glass chapel. Later, the newlyweds’ reception featured Lebanese drummers, a donut wall, lolly jars, illuminated signage and a photo booth provided by Impact Lighting Co to keep guests entertained between formalities.
“Our wedding really brought out our personalities to show to our closest family and friends,” says Megan. “It was a party that would not have stopped if we had a choice. Everything went perfectly to plan and even the rain did not hamper anything at all.”

Although they announced their engagement in 2017, the couple delayed their nuptials to mid 2019 due to Megan’s knee surgery.
“InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s reception venue was the perfect mix of rustic and modern. We enhanced the warm feel by using long wood trestle tables and lots of greenery on the tables, walls and columns.”
Cakes by Simone created the couple’s elegant three-tier cake.
