Dreaming of a tropical boho wedding on the beach, Port Douglas pair Lisa and Richard realised they had the perfect location right on their doorstep.
Before deciding on a venue close to home, the couple had been planning an intimate celebration in Bali
“We soon realised that some of our guests would not be able to travel and that we already lived in paradise,” Lisa explains.
Their tropical boho wedding was held on September 13, 2019, and became a long weekend affair with a meet and greet dinner the day before at a Port Douglas resort.
The couple chose to keep their venue a surprise for guests, organising a bus to transport them to ReNewell Beach House, a private house on the beach at Newell Beach, north of Port Douglas.
“Our wedding was so much fun, we loved how everyone dressed in beautiful light clothing and had no idea where they were going when they got on the bus,” Lisa says.
“The ceremony had everyone in tears (happy) we included our parents and children as part of the ceremony and the décor was stunning, as was the food.”

Lisa walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of INXS’s Never Tear Us Apart, performed by Waking Ugly. Lisa and Richie were married by experienced celebrant Joanne Male.
Styling was beachy and boho, with the couple creating a personal brand to adorn fresh coconuts, stubby holders, ice buckets and a welcome sign.
Blush Hair & Make-Up created Lisa’s beautiful boho look.
“Everyone could not stop talking about how amazing the day was and the smiles and laughter will always be remembered,” Lisa says.
