Love blossoming over French lessons – does it get any more romantic?
Morgane Galin and Owen Gregory met via Gumtree where Morgane was offering her French tutoring skills. “We only had a couple of sessions and then started dating, since then unfortunately his French has not improved drastically,” laughs Morgane, 28, of her photographer beau, 32.
After Morgane made the permanent move to Australia in 2012, the couple were engaged two years later and married at their yacht club wedding on April 30, 2016 in Perth. Their ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Leederville was followed by a reception with their 100 guests at Hillarys Yacht Club in Sorrento.
The creative couple were keen to DIY some of their details, with Owen creating the flowers for the day and Morgane making her own veil. “Owen researched techniques, styles and flowers for weeks,” explains Morgane. “We really wanted to use native plants and celebrate Australian flora and he did a marvellous job of it.”
The couple had guests as their focus on their wedding day, hiring Neil the local oyster shucker to deliver fresh seafood, and a live band featuring Owen’s brother.

Sage wedding advice from the bride? “Don’t party with your bridesmaids the night before.”
