When you think of a luxury Sydney waterfront wedding that’s as modern as it is romantic, the word ‘laidback’ doesn’t seem to gel.
But it seems bride Riannon and groom Mitch, whose Doltone House wedding at Jones Bay Wharf was on July 20, 2019, were pretty relaxed in their approach to wedding planning.
“To be completely honest, I didn’t really have much of a vision,” says Riannon who wore a stunning figure-hugging Berta wedding gown from Brides by Francesca. “I enquired with a few venues, but only went to see two. When we arrived at Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf, Mitch and I were instantly sold.”
The couple exchanged vows at St Catherine Greek Orthodox Church and cited “FOOD!” as being the number one consideration in choosing a wedding venue. “We had lots of Greeks and Italians to feed,” laughs Riannon. “The location was great, the view was amazing and we had both been to a wedding there before and agreed, they had amazing food!”
While Riannon and Mitch put their faith in a dream-team of Sydney wedding suppliers, they singled out praise for their photographer and videographer.
“I was so happy with both Marcus Rusbourne Media and The Evoke Company as they both captured our day so perfectly,” comments the bride. “We always look at our photos and watch our video when we want to re-live the best day of our lives.”
We agree! Riannon and Mitch’s exquisite Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf wedding was captured impeccably by The Evoke Company and Marcus Rusbourne Media.

VISIT DOLTONE HOUSEAbout their traditional Sydney wedding ceremony, Riannon says, “We got married at a St Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, recommended by my godfather who was also the priest that married us. I love that church, it is stunning and full of colour, and located in Mascot, which was not too far from our reception venue.”
Lending romance to the modern luxury affair, Riannon’s colour palette was made up of neutrals, blush pinks and a dash of orange dotted throughout the floral styling by the House of Doltone.
Mitch and his five groomsmen donned traditional black tuxedos for the Sydney winter wedding; Emporio Armani suits with crisp white shirts and classic black bow ties.
VIEW DOLTONE HOUSE PACKAGESRecalling the flow of their day, Riannon says, “Doltone House is located opposite Star City Casino in Sydney which a few guests went to before the reception. Then Doltone House provided pre-dinner drinks and canapes before we arrived. On our arrival, guests were already seated, and we went straight into some Greek dancing which was fun and set a great vibe for the rest of the evening.”
“The menu at our wedding was amazing. We had so many compliments on the food! We had antipasto pre-entree, mushroom and ricotta ravioli and linguine pescatore as entree; braised beef cheek and oven-roasted chicken breast for the main meal; and classic french vanilla creme brulee and ricotta pear tart for dessert.”
“As an additional event after the wedding, we went out for breakfast with both our immediate families, which was great. We all got to talk about the day and night, which was so nice, because we didn’t want it to end!”
