Kristen and Shane met in high school, but it wasn’t until many years later that they became sweethearts.
“He says he had a crush on me, but being the ‘older girl’ he left me alone. It was when Shane was almost 21 and I was 23 that he decided to send me a Facebook message,” Kristen, 29, says.
The Adelaide couple were in a relationship within a few weeks and have been together for more than six years.
It was on a trip of a lifetime to the US that Shane, 27, popped the question in front of the Hollywood sign.
Right from the start, the couple knew they wanted a destination Bali wedding.
“Bali was our first overseas trip together and we have been back a few times since,” Kristen says.
“We have made some of my favourite memories in Bali so it was a given! It’s our happy place!”
The couple found Villa Tamarama in Ungasan, and fell in love, marrying at the clifftop resort on June 1, 2018, in front of 32 guests.
Kristen loved the resort’s white decor with a touch of greenery and added her own splash of colour with pastel pinks, corals and blue.
“We made it our own,” she says.
“Our priorities were to just have fun, soak it all in and make the most of our holiday with family
and friends, which we certainly did. It was the best week of our lives.”

Kristen made the perfect princess bride, complete with gold crown. “My crown is on display now in my bedroom I loved it so much I’ve made a shrine,” she says with a laugh.
Gerard McCabe created the couple’s modern wedding rings.
“Our priorities were to just have fun, soak it all in and make the most of our holiday with family and friends, which we certainly did. It was the best week of our lives,” Kristen says.
“It was a fairy tale,” Kristen says of their destination wedding. “The day was so magical with the night ending with 99 per cent of the guests jumping in the pool, many fully clothed.”
