When Treanna Adams and Joel Woods’ family and friends arrived at the couple’s engagement party, little did they know the Brisbane pair got hitched just hours before.
“We wanted it to be both intimate and a surprise so we decided to have our ceremony with only immediate family and a few close friends and we’d sent out invites to our ‘engagement party’ for our 100-plus guests to attend in the afternoon,” Treanna, 35, says of the surprise wedding.
She and Joel, 29, met on the Canadian snowfields and a long-distance relationship ensued before Treanna made the permanent move to Brisbane. The couple then focused on buying a house and starting a family before deciding to make their way down the aisle.
They wed in front of 11 close family and friends at Little Cove Beach in Noosa on October 24, 2015 before heading back to Joel’s parents’ place for the laid-back ‘engagement party’ that was actually the pair’s reception.
“The ceremony at Little Cove beach was absolutely beautiful,” Treanna says.
“We then travelled back to Brisbane for our beautiful backyard reception where everyone was absolutely thrilled and surprised to find out that we had been secretly married only hours before!”

Treanna praises Circle of Love Weddings for the quaint ceremony setting on the sand.
A far cry from the Canadian snowfields where they first met, the gorgeous Noosa sand was the perfect spot for the couple’s intimate beach nuptials.
“The only advice I would give myself is to slow down and ensure to keep a few moments for yourself,” Treanna says of the big day.
Hand-crafted rings added a special touch for the Brisbane couple.
