A mutual love of cats sealed the deal for Kathryn and Zyggy, who met in 2015.
After three years together — and adopting two cats — Zygyy proposed and they began planning their winery wedding for April 13, 2019. “. We are both quite laidback people, and love going to weddings where the guests all get a chance to mingle with each other throughout the night,” explains the bride. “We chose a cocktail wedding so that people would be able to mingle all night, and so that it would be easier to convince people onto the dancefloor.”
The couple opted for a rustic and native feel at Ekhidna Wines in McLaren Vale. “We incorporated this in the relaxed setting of the outdoor dancefloor with festoon lighting, and the floral arrangements incorporating natives and locally sourced greenery,” smiles Kathryn.
“We chose Ekhidna Wines because it provides flexibility in the set up, and we were able to have both indoor and outdoor areas, conducive to the relaxed vibe we were looking for,” she says.” We were also very fortunate that Zyggy’s sister is very talented with flowers, despite not being a florist, and she offered to do the flowers for the day.”

“I had seen this dress on Instagram and fallen in love with it, but still made myself try other dresses just in case,” smiles the bride.
“When starting to plan our day, it was important to us to make sure that we were both equally reflected in the wedding day, and this meant a joint effort to organise suppliers and make the big decisions,” says the bride.
