When it came to their rustic restaurant wedding, Kate and Mark wanted to steer clear of formality.
“We didn’t want a cookie cutter formal wedding,” Kate, 57, explains. “We wanted it to be a really relaxed and happy event.”
Kate and Mark, 53, met online five years ago and love quickly blossomed.
They chose beachside venue Babalou in Kingscliff, New South Wales for their rustic-themed celebrations on October 5, 2018.
A mini-holiday for guests was one of the benefits of the venue choice, the bride says.
“Many of our guests hadn’t visited Kingscliff before and just fell in love with that special part of the world,” Kate says.
A rocking DJ made sure the dance floor was on fire all night and a photobooth kept the laughs coming.
“We had a great night with our precious family and friends,” Kate says. “We loved our day so much and I don’t think we could have improved on it.”

Kate chose an elegant off-the-shoulder gown for her big day.
“I think the fun factor and the love in the room was felt by everyone. Our family and friends are still raving about it,” Kate says of their spring wedding.
