Karyn and Justin opt for relaxed vibe at their vintage wedding

While the wheels on the bus were going round and round, so were the thoughts of Justin Fitzgerald who believed schoolgirl Karyn McDougall would make quite the wife!

“We met on the school bus in high school when we were 12,” explains Karyn, 32. But despite becoming friends, the pair went their separate ways. They reconnected seven years later and became an item. “Justin has since told me that he said to his mates we were going to get married at age 19,” she laughs.

The Perth couple wanted a fun, relaxed and “very us” vintage wedding. They were married on May 15, 2015 at Hyde Park followed by a reception at Rosemount Hotel. “We chose all our vendors really carefully making sure that they understood that we wanted a nice relaxed day and that everybody had a good time,” explains Karyn.

To create the perfect atmopshere, they also opted for a cocktail party over a formal sit-down dinner. “We wanted people to mingle, dance and basically relax and have a good time,” smiles Karyn.

The newlyweds headed to Bali for their honeymoon.

Richmond Palace RR Limousines provided the vintage-style transport for the couple and their crew.

Karyn “took a chance” and ordered her Polina Ivanova gown from Etsy. The risk paid off, with the bride making her mark in a gorgeous, unique style.

Karyn jokes they found her bridesmaid’s dress in 30 minutes, “a lot faster than the boys’ suits!”

Guests were provided a ‘I promise to get up and dance’ section on the couple’s wedding invitations.
