After crossing the globe to set up a new life in Australia, Victoria Bibet and Joseph Smart wanted to share their wedding with those who helped nurture their relationship.
Victoria, 29, originally from France, and Joe, 30, from the UK, met in Hereford, England. After a few years together they embarked on their next adventure – a move Down Under.
“We both feel that our success in our relationship, and our work life, has been down to the amazing friends and colleagues we have made in Australia. We were welcomed with open arms,” Victoria says.
The couple chose their new home country for their Melbourne wedding, and despite moving to Sydney a few months before, managed to pull off the big day after organising most of it from interstate.
Victoria and Joe held their Melbourne wedding at elegant Butleigh Wootton, in Kew, in front of 50 family and friends on June 10, 2016 – one of the last weddings held at the historic mansion after it was sold to new owners in May, 2016.
Reception celebrations continued at the same venue with an elegant winter twilight theme.
“We wanted an intimate wedding where we could gather everyone who nurtured our relationship,” Victoria says.
“It is true when people say the day goes by very quickly! However, we managed to squeeze few dance moves, to eat, drink, share laughs and tears of joy.”

Before their wedding day, Victoria and Joe headed to The Pier, Port Melbourne for an engagement shoot with Tameika Brumby.
Victoria hand made her own fabric bouquet which she has kept as a souvenir.
Livingdolls Makeup Artistry had Victoria aisle-ready with a side-swept down-do and fresh face.
“We wrote our separate vows, mine in English and Joe’s in French, and we realised they were very similar,” smiles the bride.
