It was a chilly beginning for Jade Campbell and Thomas Meehan who met at … the supermarket drinks fridge.
“It was love at first Coke,” jokes Jade, 19, of meeting Tom, 20. “Shortly after, Tom joined the army and our love blossomed, despite the miles apart.” We guess it’s no coincidence their first pet cat was named Pepsi.
Their fairy tale wedding on October 11, 2014 was celebrated with almost 90 guests. They were married in their hometown, Cootamundra of New South Wales, at The White Ibis.
Jade wasn’t initially sold on her Belle-inspired Alfred Angelo gown from the Disney Fairy Tale collection. “When I saw it in the window, I didn’t like it at all,” she explains. “But I tried it on, and was in love. I walked out and everyone instantly became emotional.”
The wedding day was smooth sailing apart from one hiccup. “On the day, one of the groomsmen forgot to bring his wedding shoes down from Townsville,” smiles jade. “We could only laugh.”
Jade says marrying at a young age is the best thing the pair has ever done. “Time is a gift, and we spent every second of ours loving each other, which became the focus of our wedding,” she says.

As Tom was away for most of the lead up to the wedding, Jade took the reins when it came to planning.
Jade says newlyweds should “take a moment, both individually and together, to just stop and soak in the atmosphere of love and warmth that is swirling around you.”
jade says their wedding day was “perfect” but the “best is yet to come”.
Most of the decorations were DIY.
“Don’t sweat the little things. Smile, and laugh, and cherish every second of your wedding day bliss,” says Jade.
