Choosing to marry in summertime meant Alicia and Lachlan, both aged 30, had made preparations to keep their guests cool.
But a downpour of rain the morning of January 13, 2018 meant it was a no longer the primary issue – but preparing for the wet weather was! “Luckily our vendors were prepared, nobody knew it was the back-up plan and the rest of the day went off like clockwork,” smiles Alicia of her classic elegant wedding.
The ceremony and reception at Werribee Mansion was a beautiful backdrop for photos. “As we left for photos, our guests enjoyed drinks, canapes, ice cream and lawn games,” says the bride. “We had a golf buggy to take the bridal party around for photos.”
“The rest of the night entailed a three-course meal, wine, beer and spirits, cheese wheel wedding cake, speeches full of laughter, photobooth and a live band keeping everyone on the dance floor for the entire night.”
The cheese wheel wedding cake was a huge hit with guests, Alicia says. “Lachie and I are really not cake people, but we love our cheese and wine. We now have a friend dubbed the ‘Cheeseburgler’ because he took so much!”

The bride was beaming in her off-the-shoulder lace gown from Collezione Bridal Couture.
“Originally we were meant to be under the silky oak trees in the Mansion gardens, but we stayed dry at the Pavilion,” explains Alicia.
“For the four months leading up to the wedding Lachie and I were actually living in Florence, Italy due to Lachie’s work. As a memento of our time there we decided to get Lachie’s ring from the famous gold stores on the Ponte Vecchio bridge,” says Alicia.
Alicia describes, “A little post-ceremony treat for all our guests was ice cream by Bianco Latte; there’s even some pics of Lachie and I sneaking in a treat.”
A pretty pastel colour palette in mint and blush for the girls was offset by blue suits for the boys by Formal Red.
Photographers Pause the Moment were spoiled for choice for beautiful locations in and around the mansion’s grounds.
“We love, we laugh, we’re silly, we drink wine, eat cheese and never shy away from a dance party,” says Alicia. “Our guests got all that and more and we wouldn’t have done it any other way.”
