An “instant and undeniable” connection brought together coworkers Caroline, 29, and George, 27.
A first date doing the 1,000 steps in Ferntree Gully, Victoria, was a a bit of a test from Caroline to see if George was the one. “I figured if he was still interested after seeing me with no makeup and sweaty in a tracksuit, he would be a keeper,” she smiles. “Once we climbed the stairs, we sat up the top and spent hours talking.”
Their rustic vineyard wedding on November 10, 2017 with 115 guests was made extra special by a gesture from Caroline’s son, aged nine. “My older son Ryan walked me down the aisle because, for many years, it was just us against the world,” explains the bride. “This was a very important and significant moment for us because he handed me over to George as a way of saying he would be looking after me now.”
The pair married at Lindernderry at Red Hill in the vineyard. “This was a nod to George’s late grandfather who used to make wine,” smiles Caroline. “He was definitely there in spirit.”

The groom’s party was dressed in navy blue three-piece suits from Ferrari Formalwear.
The bride’s Essense of Australia gown from Fairytales Bridal Boutique had alterations that made it fit so well it looked “painted on”, says Caroline.
“George and I wrote our own surprise vows,” explains Caroline. “Reading them to each other was so special and we are so glad we did it that way.”
Ferrari Formalwear and Bridal also dressed the bridesmaids in floor length navy blue evening dresses.
“During George’s speech, he surprised me (and the guests) by singing our song,” beams the bride. “Not only did I not know that he was planning to sing at the wedding, but I didn’t know he could sing!”
