Despite setbacks, including the groom having to recover from major surgery on a collapsed lung only months before, Rachel and Stephen’s modern wedding came together without a hitch.
“We were lucky his surgery was successful, but with one week in the hospital and close to two months off work, it was a very stressful time – especially considering the time we lost in the critical lead-up to the wedding day,” explains the bride.
Fortunately, the couple’s dreams came true on June 7, 2019, when their wedding day began with a beautifully sunny winter morning. Rachel and Stephen, aged 31 and 36, tied the knot overlooking the water at venue, Carousel, in Melbourne’s Albert Park.
Highlights included the couple’s incredible floral installations, live entertainment and a photo booth.
“I am so impressed with what we were able to achieve which genuinely was our dream day,” says Rachel. “We were very lucky to have the support and help from my parents, and especially my Mum, to help us along the way.”

Rachel paired her gown with accessories purchased from Fairytales Bridal Boutique.
Celebrant Charis White officiated the couple’s marriage.
“We were out in Richmond with friends one night and absolutely hit it off. We danced the night away, had our first kiss, and one week later Steve was at my front doorstep with a single red rose. He took me out on our first date to a beautiful tapas restaurant in the city.”
