As the lucky owners of a picture-perfect acreage in far north Queensland, Bianca and Shaun couldn’t think of a better spot to host their rustic garden wedding.
“We lived in two beautiful acres surrounded by a tropical-style garden, so for us this was the perfect location to host our beautiful wedding,” Bianca, 23, says.
“I didn’t want a farm-style wedding, but more of an elegant outdoor wedding and that was what I got.”
The couple, who crossed paths when Bianca was in high school and connected on Facebook, made the most of their stunning location with their DIY wedding.
Bianca and Shaun, 29, stuck with a neutral colour palette for their September 15, 2018 celebration, offset by the greenery and stunning tropical plants that surrounded them.
“It was beautiful with our off-white tablecloths, floral runners, festoon lightning and bentwood chairs,” Bianca says.
“It was just picture-perfect, a day I wish we could repeat forever.”

Bianca’s beautiful Grace Loves Lace gown perfectly matched the elegant outdoor vibe.
Despite being outdoors, bride Bianca was determined the rustic wedding would still have a touch of chic. “With an outdoor venue it’s hard to lose the farm feel for a beautiful elegant wedding, but we really did this,” she says.
Bianca describes Shaun’s proposal as nothing short of non-romantic. “We’d been together for six years and knew each other like the back of our hands so every time Shaun did something super romantic I would ask him if he’s okay, poor guy. One day after he finished mowing the lawn, all hot and sweaty he got down in one knee and asked me to marry him. Pretty romantic for a non-romantic!”
The backyard wedding allowed the couple to include more personal touches, including their fur babies, while suppliers like Coral Coast Catering and Cairns Premier Events ensured the celebration was still top-notch.
