A woolshed, home-made relish and hay bales were just some of touches that made the wedding of Tiffany and Tim truly rustic.
City girl Tiffany Madsen, 30, met country boy Timothy Leahy, 31, in 2004 while studying at University of Charles Sturt in Bathurst, NSW – Tim’s hometown and the place they chose to marry.
Their rustic wedding on January 4, 2014, embodied a country-feel with many hours spent preparing the reception venue. “We decided to go back to where it all began [the relationship] to the Leahy family farm in Bathurst,” says bride Tiffany. “The reception was held in the historic 120-year-old woolshed, in which we spent tireless weekends cleaning and restoring back to its original condition for this special occasion.”
The ageing wood was complemented with gold and white, and an array of fresh flower arrangements. “The old girl lit up to be a truly magical evening,” smiles Tiffany.
Prior to the party, the pair were married at Tim’s school chapel. “The momentous ceremony was somewhat royal like, or in my eyes straight from the scene in Father of the Bride,” laughs Tiffany. “The organist was playing with a 10-man canter group, which echoed the old school halls.”
Their 150 guests were treated to some take-home tomato relish, leaving a genuine taste of the country in everyone’s memory.
Tiffany’s bridesmaids were dressed in gowns from White Runway and Tim’s groomsmen wore RM Williams boots.
Tiffany’s gown was made by Wendy Makin – an Australian designer based in Brisbane.
The couple opted for a DIY photo board where guests could photograph themselves and then peg their image.
“Our wedding was truly special, it was not only our day but a day to celebrate two amazing families coming together,” recalls Tiffany.
