Thanks to their cool and collected nature, and plenty of spreadsheets, documents and folders, high school sweethearts Shammy and Simon planned their modern wedding with ease.
The wedding, held on a beautiful summer January 12 day in 2019, began with a traditional ceremony at St George Coptic Orthodox Church and ended with a lavish wedding reception held at five-star Melbourne hotel, Bellagio.
400 guests attended the festivities, which included cultural traditions from all over the world. Drummers, singers and traditional dances helped to symbolise the coming together of two family cultures, and entertain guests until late in the evening.
“Our wedding and the experience that we were left with on that day, actually still remains with us today,” says the bride. “Our wedding day reminds us of the reasons why we should laugh, sing, be grateful and celebrate love.”

Shammy paired her stunning beaded gown with Jimmy Choo pumps.
Cultural traditions featured heavily throughout the day.
Simon looked every bit the handsome groom in his crisp white tuxedo.
Now aged 25 and 26, Shammy and Simon’s love story began as teenagers — communicating mostly on MSN Messenger after school every day. They announced their engagement years later when Simon planned and executed an incredibly personal proposal at a park the couple used to frequent.
The newlyweds spent their first night as husband and wife at Crown Melbourne.
