A Christmas gift with a difference helped set the scene for Katie and Josh’s simple elegant wedding.
“It was Christmas Day 2016, we were at home exchanging gifts before our families were due to come to our house for lunch. It was at this stage Josh hands me a brown cardboard box, inside is an old iPhone box and inside that box right at the bottom is a folded up green post-it note and I unfold it to find the ring,” Katie, 28, says.
“He caught me completely off guard! Our families than started arriving and we waited until everyone was just about to eat when we made the announcement.”
The couple got straight into wedding planning, choosing the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre for their simple, elegant celebrations on May 20, 2017.
One hundred family and friends watched on as Katie and Josh, 28, made it official – a moment the bride says she has been dreaming of her whole life.
“Once all the formalities were over Josh and I hit the dance floor and that’s where we stayed, we were the last ones to leave,” Katie says.
“We truly enjoyed every single second of our day and wouldn’t change a thing. It was a simple, elegant but an incredible day and every single guest said they had an absolute ball.”

The couple had simple and elegant wedding invitations made up for the big day in their navy colour scheme.
Katie says she paid tribute to Carrie Bradshaw in her wedding heels that added a pop of colour to her look.
Katie and Josh first met through mutual friends and had been together about eight years when they journeyed down the aisle.
