“I always knew that I wanted my wedding to be in nature and around trees and green grass,” says Hannah. “I originally thought a forest would be so magical… however, Delaine’s family was flying over from New Zealand. We did not want them to travel very far down south of WA.” Baldivis Farm Stay gave the couple a rural experience without the long commute.
Trees, fresh air, native blossoms — Baldivis Farm Stay had all of the countryside trimmings Hannah and Delaine dreamed of for their wedding celebration on April 28, 2023, for 65 guests.
Hannah and Delaine’s meet-cute was something out of an Aussie rom-com. The couple met away on a mine site when Delaine’s friend asked him to be his wingman in an ill-fated pursuit of Hannah. “After meeting them both, I was really only interested in Del,” remembers Hannah. “I didn’t even know his friend was interested!”
Two-and-a-half years later, for Hannah’s birthday, Delaine planned a timeless proposal complete with rustic styling and a vintage car. The couple planned their wedding to be an intimate celebration, with their nearest and dearest travelling from far and wide to be a part of the day.
Surrounded by bushland and native flowers, Hannah and Delaine exchanged vows in a relaxed yet deeply meaningful ceremony. The day seamlessly progressed into celebrations. “Delaine is not that into formalities so it was important that the venue we found was relaxed and easygoing,” says Hannah.
Baldivis Farm Stay’s rustic barn was the perfect location for the reception where carved meats, vegetarian lasagne, curry, and salads were served. Nasman Donovan of Music For Weddings provided entertainment, acting as MC and DJing the celebration into the early hours.
The ceremony was held on Baldivis Farm Stay amoungst the plants, trees and flowers. It felt like a secluded magical ceremony amongst nature and all the people we love. Everything was in walking distance at the venue so after the ceremony whilst we were getting photos done, our guests could wander around, take photos, pat the ponies and slowly make their way toward the barn for reception where the bar opened and there was live music playing.
