Folly Farm ceremony inspiration for the boho bride or groom

Wild Heart Events and a bunch of Melbourne creatives couldn’t wait to get together after Melbourne’s 2020 lockdown to collaborate on this bohemian dream wedding shoot.

The photoshoot with My Scandi Style Photography took place at Olinda’s Folly Farm, a 1912 hill station property and organic blueberry farm in the leafy Dandenong Ranges. Combining textural elements like macrame, rattan, timber and lace, the rustic boho style oozes love and a free spirit.

The shoot concept was designed to demonstrate how couples could still have a beautiful intimate wedding or elopement, even during these times of COVID restrictions and limitations on social gatherings. 

Post-ceremony photos were taken with the llamas, around the garden, with a gorgeous baby-blue vintage Kombi, and with more magical golden-hour photos captured in the nearby forest.

Around the garden, a beautiful macrame swing hung from a pear tree with deep purple clematis meandering up its trunk. 

The private property’s historic Edna Walling gardens with old rock walls and shepherd’s hut was the perfect location for this fun boho-inspired wedding shoot.

Our ‘bride’ wore a Neishe & Co flowing lace boho-style gown and her gorgeous red hair was styled by Colour Me In Hairdressing in soft waves with dried flowers scattered through it. Our ‘groom’ wore relaxed chinos with a white linen shirt, leather braces and a felt hat.

The 2-tiered naked wedding cake by Bec’s Little Cake Place was styled with a customised macrame garland (Birch Springs Fiber Studio) and more pretty fresh and dried florals. These were displayed on a rose gold plinth and cake stand.

A rustic timber arbour, featuring a custom-made macrame backdrop, was styled with boho-style dried palms and flowers with an abundance of fresh roses in soft pink and ivory tones.

Using pieces from Betty May Vintage Hire and Always Eventive, a picnic for two was set up in the garden, with one of the beautiful rock walls as the backdrop. Vintage timber-crate tables with scattered cushions in neutral tones, atop white quilts, set the scene for an intimate post-ceremony picnic. Vintage crystal and rose-toned glassware, brass goblets, timber and gold cutlery, and floral plates were featured, along with a lavish grazing board.
