Since reuniting by chance, Renae Tudor and Michael Hallam have travelled across Australia and around the world.
The Cairns pair were at school together, but it wasn’t until years later that they clicked at a birthday party. Renae, 31, was still living in Cairns while Michael, 32, was working in the mines in Western Australia.
A long-distance relationship followed before Renae moved to WA. The couple were back in Cairns a few years later after Michael got a new job working out of Indonesia.
Since then, the couple have travelled as much as they can, with Michael popping the question while on a cruise to Noumea.
They held their garden wedding on July 16, 2016 in front of 80 guests at a friend’s property in Little Mulgrave, just south of Cairns.
“The garden ceremony was sentimental and highlighted by our grandparents’ own wedding photographs, whom are forever in our hearts,” Renae says.
“The reception was just perfect – simple, rustic, DIY, out under the stars. The day was filled with love, friendship and family.”
The travelling has continued in married life, with the couple embarking on a six-month round the world honeymoon with help from Flight Centre.

The couple honoured their grandparents with framed photos on the day. Here are some other ideas.
Renae made a beautiful bride and she had her long tresses perfectly styled by Cairns Bridal Hair.
Michael and his groomsmen looked sharp in blue suits and tan shoes by Roger David.
“For the whole day I felt so much love and appreciation of everyone who had made the effort to share our special day,” Renae says.
Renae chose latte-coloured bridesmaids‘ dresses that could be worn multiple ways to suit each figure.
“We were so blessed to have everyone there and so lucky that we found each other,” Renae says.
