Effie Papageorgiou and Matthew Micallef met in what the bride describes as a “Sliding Doors-moment.”
“Neither of us was meant to be there but somehow we were and the rest is history,” says Effie of her beau. The primary school teacher and electrician were married at their luxe Melbourne wedding on February 21, 2016.
“Our wedding was a modern, elegant affair with a theme of black, white and gold, and garden-fresh florals of crisp white and lush greenery,” describes the bride. An outdoor ceremony on the banks of the Yarra River at River’s Edge Events was followed by a reception with 160 guests at The Park. “Personalised water bottles, ceremony programs and vintage rose-petal cones were just some of the small touches added to perfect our ceremony,” says Effie.
The reception at Albert Park was an industrial chic blank space which the creative couple filled with their style including luscious floral arrangements and illuminated love letters on the dance floor. “The guests were treated to gourmet dishes, beautiful views and a wonderful showcase of the day via our same-day edit video on the big screen to conclude the speeches, not to mention fireworks as part of our bridal dance,” smiles Effie.
The couple honeymooned in Bali, LA, New York and Mexico.
