An intimate ceremony on the sand followed by a rustic backyard reception was the beach wedding of Erin Johnson and Michael Bradley.
The Sydney couple chose Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay for their special day with a short guest list of 35. “All our guests said they had the most amazing time, saying it was so much fun and the atmosphere was very relaxed,” describes Erin. A reception followed at a home in Vincentia which the bride and groom hired for the occasion.
Erin, 32, put on her DIY gloves for the December 5, 2015 event with 33-year-old Michael. “I did all the decorations myself, most of them were handmade; including paper fans for the ceremony, bombonniere, table centre pieces, styling and setup,” she says. Erin recruited her friend to create their wedding cake and another to make the invitations.
“The wedding had a very rustic and personal feel towards it this was very much a DIY wedding and I enjoyed every minute of it,” says Erin. “I hope to inspire any other brides that think they can’t do it all themselves. It can be done!”

The Sydneysiders were married on the gorgeous sunny day by celebrant Sharon Campbell.

“Make sure you spend time with your husband, not just for your photos,” says Erin to brides-to-be.
