As far as destination weddings go, it’s hard to beat the clear skies and crystal blue waters of Santorini.
Kerri and Tony chose the breathtaking Greek Islands for their modern wedding, holding their celebrations in the city of Thera, nestled high in the cliffs overlooking the water.
Ceremony venue, Dana Villas, overlooked the entire Santorini caldera. The couple wed under a purpose-built timber arbour, with personalised vows and plenty of in-jokes to get the intimate gathering chuckling.
South Australian-based photographer Steven Duncan of Sven Studios travelled with the couple to capture the day, describing the location as a photographer’s dream.
“It has got to be one of the highlights in my wedding photography career so far,” he says.
With the couple keen to re-join their guests at their reception at the Ampelos Restaurant, Steven had already scoped out the best locations for photos.
“I had spent the previous few days scouting out spots on the walk in between Dana Villas and Apelos Café, the aim being that I could utilise the wonderous views of Thera on Santorini without taking up too much time before entering their reception and starting the party,” he says.
“It was a beautiful spot to end what was an absolutely stunning day.”

Getting ready with friends and family was one of the couple’s highlights of their destination wedding.
“The picturesque sights available in the town of Thera, nestled high amongs the cliffs surrounding the caldera of Santorini is an absolute dream to photograph, and it makes it so much easier when I have and amazing couple as Kerri and Tony as subjects,” photogrpaher Steven says.
The couple’s ceremony was officiated by a friend and was kept light-hearted, including incorporating their love of board games by using the rule book of Settlers of Catan as their registry book.
The destination wedding not only got the couple’s European honeymoon off to a good start, but also provided the perfect meeting place between the bride’s home, Australia, and the groom’s family and friends in Canada.
