“It reminded us of the cobbled lanes in the Greek Islands lined with blue doors and Bougainvillea trees.”
On March 12, 2021, Melbourne couple Macy and Sean treated 110 friends and family to a lively outdoor celebration of love. There were bold pops of colour and a balmy beachside breeze; a Greek feast of “epic” proportions by Mediterranean restaurant Alatonero; and a chic Santorini setting on Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
It was modern, bright and them to a tee.
But not before a sprinkling of tradition and an emotion-packed ceremony at the quaint Garden Chapel at Dalywaters Rose Farm to start off the day just right.
We wanted our ceremony to be the more ‘traditional’/formal aspect to our day. When we saw the chapel we loved how intimate it felt. The grounds were beautiful and had a perfect ‘garden party’ vibe.
We opted for a lighthearted, inclusive, fun ceremony. There were many laughs and many tears, it was an emotional rollercoaster thanks to our incredible celebrant, Precious. We decided to sign the certificate after the ceremony to keep it short and sweet, in all it was approximately 30 minutes.
For our reception, food was probably the most important to us, we are huge foodies and Alatonero is know for their EPIC Greek feasts. We also really wanted a modern venue to match our personalities. Tick!

VISIT DALYWATERS ROSE GARDEN CHAPELMacy and Sean’s modern beachside wedding was captured beautifully by The Runaway Hearts.
Sean and his crew headed to Melbourne’s Mens Suit Warehouse to be decked out with formal gear.
VISIT MENS SUIT WAREHOUSEThey went with navy slim pants, crisp white shirts with suspenders, and floral bow ties from Peggy & Finn. Sean’s linen jacket added European flair to the Santorini-inspired soiree.
Given Macy’s wedding vision was for a bright, fun colour palette, she offset this with neutral colour dresses for herself and her five bridesmaids.
My wedding dress from Always & Forever Bridal was called ‘Galatea by Willowby’. I knew it was The One instantly. We made some minor changes to add extra WOW factor. My bridesmaids dresses were a nudey/beige/stone colour, which I chose because it matched the undertone/lining of my dress perfectly. I also loved how the flowers popped against it.

For a couple of hours after the ceremony we had ‘The Prosecco Van’ serving free-flowing champagne and beer to our guests whilst we mingled, hugged, and got pictures. The bridal party left for photos whilst the guests hung around for a few more drinks and then made their way to the reception venue.

BROWSE CATERERS NEAR YOUVibrant flower arrangements were repurposed for the couple’s reception, placed on tables by family members after the ceremony.
Our flowers were by Foxy Evergreen. My bouquet had white phaphalaenopsis orchids, bold blush and ivory reflexed roses and pops of pink. At the ceremony, we had a door entrance with four stand arrangements and a hanging install in the chapel. For these, we went a little ‘boho’ and used painted palms and pampas grass, greenery and pink florals.

BROWSE FLORISTS NEAR YOUThe vibe at Alatonero was fun and upbeat, thanks to acoustic tunes played all night long, and exceptional service by the Mornington Peninsula wedding venue.
As a couple, we are fun, energetic and love colour and brightness. From the start of our planning, we knew we wanted something modern and to highlight our personalities, and break away from the norm. We found Alatonero and fell in love instantly, we loved the décor, the option to be indoor or outdoor, and the overall welcoming feel of the space. We share a love of Greece and in particular Greek food. We chose bright pink florals to contrast against the blue at Alatonero, as this reminded us of the cobbled lanes in the Greek Islands lined with blue doors and Bougainvillea trees.
