When Aimee Caldwell thought nothing of Craig Todd for “singing and dancing down the supermarket aisles” – he knew he’d found his girl.
The Brisbane couple met via online dating, a relief for Aimee. “Thanks goodness for internet and technology because I honestly don’t think our paths would have crossed otherwise,” says the 36-year-old of Craig, also 36. “As time went on and he just kept ticking all of my boxes, pretty soon we were inseparable.”
They married at their farm wedding on September 3, 2016 with 70 guests. The ceremony and reception were held at the one location, Brockhurst Farm at Ocean View in Queensland. Aimee and Craig got their DIY on to create their dream wedding day. “Our wedding was DIY; we didn’t have an extravagant budget. Our day was about love and laughter,” says the bride.
“Our wedding was full of simple detail. It was colourful, pretty and elegant,” she added. “Set on a farm amongst nature, our bestest friends and closest family – it was a winning formula.”

After pinning ring styles on Pinterest for months, it was Aimee’s mum who said “I have something similar to these!” and dug out her grandmother’s ring to show Aimee. “I cried when I saw it,” smiles Aimee. “We all knew it was the one.”
A private dressmaker custom made Aimee’s stunning off-the-shoulder gown featuring delicate lace three-quarter sleeves.
Craig and his boys went with a country casual look in chinos and navy blazers, Craig stepping it up with a navy velvet jacket and bow tie.
If she could do it all over again, Aimee says she’d “allow more time for set-up. DIY weddings are tiring! We would have gone to the venue two days prior instead of one.”
The couple hired the perfect marquee from Complete Party & Marquee Hire.
Aimee says Craig is her perfect man and he says she’s his 10 out of 10. “We allow each other to be ourselves,” smiles the bride.
