Kaidee Smith and Joshua Gill were so ready to be married, their wedding day came with a sense of calm.
The Victorian pair, aged 25 and 26 respectively, met while in high school. “I was going through the previous high school yearbook when I found Josh’s photo,” recalls Kaidee. “I decided that he was pretty cute and had an instant crush.”
Unfortunately their first try at romance didn’t last but fast forward a couple of years to Josh’s 19th birthday and their friendship was rekindled. Soon enough it was more, and on their fifth anniversary, Josh proposed on the Gold Coast.
They married at their rustic beach wedding in Lorne, Victoria along the Great Ocean Road on February 20, 2016. The day at Lorne Beach Pavilion was very relaxed according to the bride. “Our wedding day was probably the calmest day that we’ve both had in our lives,” she says. “We were both so absorbed in each other that the ceremony went by in such a blur. We were both ready to be married.”
The couple made sure their wedding day was also an experience for their 80 guests by making it a weekend away. “We also worked hard to make our wedding really personal, from the structure of our ceremony and vows, to the invitations and food,” explains Kaidee.
