Beverley Stacey met her future husband in high school – the only problem was, she wasn’t allowed to date.
Luckily Earl Hopkinson was a patient man, and he waited until they graduated to ask her out. “Since then we have been inseparable,” says Bev. “We have travelled together and grown together through university and all the ups and downs that life brings.”
The Perth couple, aged 29 and 28 respectively, married at their classic wedding on November 13, 2016. A ceremony at St Michael the Archangel Chapel in Leederville was followed by a reception with 120 guests at Rambla on Swan. “We had family and friends come from interstate and also family from New York,” explains the bride. “It was a lovely 28-degree spring day in Perth and the sun was shining down on us.”
Bev and Earl describe wedding planning as an “enjoyable experience”. “We only decided around February 2016 that we would get married in November 2016 so things were booked last-minute which we think made it easier,” reflects Bev. “Not being stressed about details made the process enjoyable – although some of our suppliers often stated that we had left it too last-minute!”
While the couple weren’t keen to cut too many corners, they did seize an opportunity to save. “We decided not to book transport to our wedding night accommodation and jumped in the back of a friend’s Mazda,” laughs Bev.

Elicia Rudd Hair & Makeup was entrusted with transforming the bridal party. “She was amazing, we didn’t even feel the need to have a trial,” praises Bev.
“We had a beautiful old fashioned limousine to go with our classic theme.”
“Peter and Tegwyn were awesome. Their experience with weddings meant everything went smoothly and we got some amazing photos,” says Bev of Peter Edwards Photography.
More praise from the bride: “The food, service and staff at Rambla on Swan were amazing. All our guests are still commenting on how good it was.”
The pair headed to Pagoda Resort & Spa for their wedding night.
