Quirky colour and classic cars made a perfect recipe for this Caversham House wedding.
Perth couple Gail and Matt Lushey started out as work mates but quickly blossomed into something more. A few years later, on a holiday to Europe, a surprised Gail, 27 stood before Matt, 36 in romantic Barcelona.
“After having the most amazing day together, we were in our room and Matt asked me to look out of the window. When I turned around he said he loved me – I thought he was going to break up with me!” laughs Gail.
Luckily that was the last thing on Matt’s mind and the couple married on June 10, 2016, in a “beautifully personalised ceremony.” Their classic pink and purple themed wedding was held in a beautiful garden along the Swan River, at picturesque Caversham House, Western Australia.
Keeping true to their theme colours, the couple hired a magnificent purple and silver vintage stretch limousine for their day. The gorgeous bride wore a layered “dream fairy tale princess dress,” matched with a stunning purple, pink and white handmade silk bouquet, and accompanied by a pair of unique blue glitter unicorn heels! Alongside the bride were her three bridesmaids, matching in pale pink floor-length gowns.
The couple’s 93 guests were treated to something unique at the colourful reception – wedding cakes inside small jars, boasting two different flavours – rosewater and Malteser, and were also given candy bomboniere with “Matt Hearts Gail” in pink and purple writing.
“Our day was the best thing we could have asked for,” says Gail of the romantic winter celebration. “It was everything we wanted it to be.”

The quirky unicorn platform shoes were by the aptly-named Shoe me Gorgeous.
Matt and his groomsmen were dressed by Ferrari Formalwear, with charcoal grey suits and purple ties to continue the theme.
Flowers For Ever After provided Gail’s stunning handmade silk bouquet.
The grand purple and silver 1930s Ford stretch limo was from Thirties Limousines.
Dressed by Luv Formal and Bridal Gail sashayed her way across the Caversham House dance floor with new husband Matt.
