As Brittany’s late father proposed to her mother on Christmas Day, it made perfect sense to Simon to replicate such an intimate moment for his bride.
“Britt had just lost her father to brain cancer, who she was incredibly close with. Britt’s father actually proposed to her mother on Christmas Day, so when faced with her first Christmas without her Dad, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to lift her spirits,” says the groom.
In the year leading up to her father’s death, Brittany had spent her entire savings travelling back and forth to Sydney to visit him. This meant, when it came to plan their rustic wedding, funds were tight. Priorities lay with good food, good wine, good friends, great music and a photographer they could feel comfortable around.
The couple, aged 28 and 30, tied the knot on a sunny December 21 day in 2018. Close family and friends witnessed the union, held on the shores of South of Perth Yacht Club.
Brittany’s father was there in spirit, with the bride walking down the aisle wearing a wedding dress the two had picked out together two years prior to his diagnosis.
“I had my brother walk me down the aisle – we are very close and since Dad’s passing it was a huge moment for us and for him,” says the bride. “We knew it was going to be a very emotional and hard day.”

“Simon wanted to wear a burgundy velvet suit for two reasons: he loved it, and my dad wore burgundy velvet on his wedding day too.” says the bride. “It was the perfect tribute.”
“We first met in 2010 in a swimming squad and quickly realised we were very good together. We are both incredibly active people who love socialising and being around friends.”
“It could not have been a more perfect day.”
The couple spent their first night as husband and wife at Crown Towers.
