“We knew wanted it to be fun… and extravagant,” explains Bec of her March 9, 2022, wedding to Andrew at Customs House Brisbane. With acrobats performing and blowing bubbles, a champagne skirt hostess roaming the crowd, and a live painter immortalising the occasion in oils, this wedding certainly fulfilled the brief.
Seven years prior to their Customs House wedding, Bec and Andrew met at work — his work, that is. He was her trainer at his gym, and the pair instantly hit it off. “Andrew proposed to me on Christmas night of 2020 in Bali,” remembers Bec. “It was such a lovely surprise for me. I was so shocked.”
On a gloomy, rainy Brisbane day, Bec prepared for her wedding in a beautiful suite at the Brisbane Marriott. The bride chose an elegant gown with a dramatic train of ivory lace paired with a sweeping veil. Holding a bouquet of blush and cream roses, Bec was the embodiment of the romantic luxury wedding aesthetic she selected for the celebration.
Bec and Andrew took a risk on an outdoor ceremony near the heritage-listed facade of Customs House Brisbane. Everyone was pleasantly surprised when the weather cleared just in time for Bec to take the aisle, proceeded by Andrew’s nephew. Celebrant Brendan Anning ran a meaningful yet upbeat ceremony in the presence of 120 guests. After the ceremony, cocktail hour featured live performance artists, including a champagne skirt hostess.
After exploring the historic surrounding of Customs House Brisbane with their photography and videography team from Evernew Studios, Bec and Andrew joined their guests in The River Room. The stunning pink aesthetic was curated by JJ Style Co, who used florals, candles, feathers, linens, and other elements to create the rosy, romantic look.
The guests dined on a delicious three-course meal, followed by a dessert bar overflowing with sweet treats — all pink, naturally. Guests’ sweet tooths were encouraged to run wild with a doughnut wall on offer, as well as a five-tier, four-flavour wedding cake in gold and ivory. During the course of the evening, a live painter provided entertainment while creating a beautiful couples portrait.
As the party escalated, Bec posed in the photo booth with friends before taking over the DJ booth to draw all the guests — and her groom — to the dancefloor!
We always dreamed of having our wedding in Customs House. Its one of our favourite spots in Brisbane — it is such a traditional and elegant location. We also wanted the guests to have a night to remember — the fireworks helped us achieve that!
