When your family is stuck overseas for your big day, how do you ensure their presence is still felt? At their Austinvilla Estate wedding in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Tiffiny and Aaron had an ingenious idea.
Cutouts! Lifesize cardboard cutouts of loved ones who couldn’t travel because of COVID. Canadian bride Tiffiny wed her country Queensland groom Aaron at Austinvilla Estate on November 30, 2020, just as local restrictions were easing.
The pair planned for an intimate weekend-long wedding at the unique Gold Coast estate for 33 loved ones, remotely and in the thick of the pandemic. They relied on emails and phone calls with their chosen wedding vendors to bring their romantic rustic vision to life.
Tiffiny and Aaron came to Easy Weddings to help match them with some of the most important wedding services – a venue, photographer and celebrant.
Working with our in-house wedding planners, the couple’s Austinvilla Estate wedding was soon taking shape, with Geoff Mazlin from I Do Creative Ceremonies booked to make things official and Veri Photography to document the day on camera.
For Tiffany and Aaron, one of our roles was to support them throughout the entire process, especially during COVID. We did mood boards and helped source additional suppliers.
Tiffiny was really casual, they truly wanted to get married for the marriage and not for a big fancy wedding. Even with the restrictions, they wanted to go ahead with a small number of guests and continue with their life plans, which was our pleasure to help them with.

This romantic Austinvilla Estate wedding was captured beautifully by Veri Photography.
We got married in the chapel area and got ready in the salon and the bridal suite. We had frozen mojitos and pina coladas out on the verandah, and dinner was a feasting family style. It perfect and intimate.
Tiffiny
Tiffiny’s romantic boho wedding gown was an Essense of Australia design from Gladstone Bridal Boutique.
Originally a strapless sweetheart silhouette (style D2752), Tiffiny had the team at Gladstone Bridal create flattering sheer sleeves using the same cotton lace applique. She paired it with a simple cathedral-length veil designed by the boutique.

LEARN ABOUT OUR CUSTOM PACKAGES“Parents and family from overseas who could not be there were represented with lifesize cutouts, which made the day very special for them.”
Both Tiffiny and Aaron wanted an elegant but simple ceremony that reflected their love for one another and their love for their families and friends. The setting at Austinvilla was an excellent choice with the chapel in the gardens reflecting their country background.

VISIT GEOFF MAZLIN CELEBRANTDue to only having a small wedding, we wanted everyone to be a part of the bridal party in a way.
Tiffiny
Tiffiny’s brief for wedding florals was native, blush and romantic, which she entrusted Forever Us to deliver.
Floral designers Forever Us crafted a wedding arch, bouquets and buttonholes with a mix of blush protea, grey-green gum, textured pastel roses and spiky sea holly. The arch arrangement was later repurposed to adorn the five-metre bridal table inside The Homestead at Austinvilla Estate.
VISIT FOREVER US“Tiffiny and Aaron enjoyed pre-reception canapes followed by delicious feasting platters. The night before the wedding we also hosted a gourmet BBQ which was a wonderful time for the guests to get together and enjoy each other’s company.”
This couple’s gourmet platters consisted of:
- Pan-fried gnocchi with ripped fresh mozzarella and zucchini
- BBQ pork crackling
- Deboned rolled chicken with orange and pistachio
- Smoked 10-hour beef brisket
- Crunchy duck fat potatoes
- Green salad served with fresh rocket with mozzarella

VISIT AUSTINVILLA ESTATE“It was quite an emotional day due to the international border closure and Tiffiny’s family in Canada unable to attend.”
The playing of video recorded messages from her overseas family was a highlight of the night. They were very laid-back and easy to work with, a beautiful day, I’m so glad everything went well for them.
