No less than four reschedules of their Albert Park wedding at The Park, this long-term Melbourne couple finally got to have their wedding day. And what a day it was!
“But we would do it ALL the same,” says bride Matara of her March 6, 2021 wedding to Gavin. “The day was honestly perfect.”
The couple’s modern-elegant city wedding commenced at the awe-inspiring St Mary Star of the Sea Cathedral in West Melbourne. Several of the 180 guest list chose to stay in the Melbourne CBD, within walking distance to The Park, enjoying drinks and finger food at their hotel while Matara and Gavin had photos taken by T-One Image. The Royal Exhibition Buildings, Imax, MCG, and of course, the lakeside views of Albert Park were among the many iconic Melbourne backdrops to their day.
Once at The Park it was MC, Eddie Rinaldo, who took everyone under his wing, Matara commenting, “he was flawless, so professional, extremely experienced and got our guests involved in some very special aspects of the night.” Music and a packed dancefloor was thanks to Melbourne Entertainment Co.
Matara worked with bridal designer Jason Grech on her modern classic wedding gown, featuring long sheer sleeves, a plunging V-neck and sheer low back. Florals by Something Bloomed were classic white, adding in blush and greenery for the reception arrangements.
Of their experience postponing their day four times, Matara explains, “some suppliers changed due to not being available on all the date changes, however, our reception venue was wonderful and very accommodating throughout the planning process.”
Both Gavin and I fell in love with the views. The Park has breathtaking views of the Albert Park Lake, it’s picturesque. The large chandeliers set a very romantic vibe which we also loved. It’s a very simple but elegant reception venue, and we loved that the dark interior also complemented our bridal party look.

- Entree: Antipasto boards, pan-fried gnocchi, Flinders Island lamb shoulder

- Sides: Roasted chat potatoes, green beans
- Dessert: Gianduja chocolate bar, strawberry cheesecake
