Offbeat pair Sheridan Tate and Patrick Regester combined their love of science fiction and all things 1950s in their unique vintage wedding.
The Melbourne couple chose the city’s iconic Spotswood Pumping Station at the Scienceworks museum for their March 7, 2015 wedding, sharing the special day with 110 guests.
“We chose this venue for its uniqueness,” Paddy, 25, says. “It houses machinery from the 1800s…One of the highlights of our night was when all the machinery started to move as we were pronounced husband and wife.”
Sheridan, 26, looked every bit the ’50s belle with a gorgeous backless gown, face veil and ruby lips.
Following the ceremony, the celebrations continued at the pumping station’s boiler room and guests were treated to a show while photographs were being taken.
A planetarium show and an engine room worker who explained the museum’s equipment were among the day’s other unique features.
White Card Food & Events catered an extensive cocktail menu, including blue swimmer crab and avocado tarts, spiced lamb and pinenut cigars and beetroot and whipped goat’s cheese with candied walnuts.
“We believe we achieved an extremely original, sentimental and beautiful wedding,” Paddy says.
“It was always our goal to have a wedding that was fun, interesting and that stood apart from the rest.”

Paddy and his groomsmen made the most of the unique setting for some spectacular photographs.
Benny from Benny Roff Fun Weddings officiated the ceremony.
Rather than a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a quirky cheese wheel stack.
