The December to January holiday period is the PEAK time for proposals — if last year’s engagement trends are anything to go by! That’s great news for the wedding industry because we expect our website traffic to spike during mid-January, as it does this time each year.

Thirteen per cent of Australia’s engagements happen in December alone, with the majority between Christmas and New Year, according to our 2024 Wedding Industry Report. As a result, these excited, newly-engaged couples spend a chunk of their summer holidays online, in the early stages of their wedding planning.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are two of the biggest days for engagements every year.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are two of the biggest days for engagements every year.

Every year, we see a spike of engagements during the Christmas to New Year period, as couples go on holidays and come together with their families. The entire month is always popular for proposals — 13% of last year’s engagements happened in December alone.

Easy Weddings’ senior wedding planner, Darcy Allen, says Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were two of last year’s most popular days for Australian proposals, according to more than 4,200 couples surveyed for the 2024 report. She expects this year’s festive season to be no exception.

“We’re coming up to the most exciting time of the year at Easy Weddings, as we get ready to welcome thousands of newly-engaged couples to the planning process! The Christmas holidays are extra-special for me personally, because I became engaged on Christmas Eve, a few years back!”

– Darcy Allen, Easy Weddings’ Senior Wedding Planner

Summer holidays are a key time to update your storefront

If you’re already listing your wedding business on Easy Weddings, you’re a step ahead of the competition – but the work doesn’t stop there. With more eyes on our website in the coming weeks, the summer holidays is the key time to take a look at your storefront and give it a little TLC.

Your Easy Weddings storefront acts as a wedding day vision board for brides and grooms-to-be who are looking for inspiration and ideas to create their day. Couples also prefer suppliers that match their wedding-day vision, so ensure your pictures align with trending styles and themes. To learn more about the styles our couples love, read our article Leverage 2024 Wedding Styles & Venue Trends to Elevate Your Brand.

In preparation for the January traffic spike, we encourage our suppliers to look at how their storefront and photo gallery appear from the front end, especially how the photos are cropped.

To make changes, log into your WedCRM and click on your “Storefront” images.
