After your wedding is over it will be a day that you will always think and talk about. Your wedding photography and videography will be important for you to to look back through and to show your children and grandchildren. You want your wedding album and dvd to be really special.
Photographer
Choose your photographer carefully. Photography will be one of the most important components of your wedding, but it is not an area to try and cut costs. You need to choose a professional photographer with a good reputation. Talk to family and friends for recommendations. In choosing your photographer, have a look at their portfolio and find out how much experience they have. If you choose a large studio with more than one photographer, make sure that the portfolio shows the work of the chosen photographer.
When talking to the photographer show them what you like in their portfolio. They need to know what style of photos you would like. Let your budget be known and make sure your package includes everything you want; proofs, albums, enlargements, duplicates and labour. Also check the cost of later reprints. If you want the negatives negotiate this into your package.
After you have discussed the style of photos you like, your photographer will be able to give you an estimate on how long the photography will take. If it is going to take over 1 hour ask a friend to organise champagne and nibblies for the group.
Videographer
A video is a fantastic way to relive the day, and hear yourselves say your vows to each other. Again search carefully for a reputable videographer and do it at least 6 months before the wedding. You want someone who can capture the moment without intruding on your day. Just imagine how happy it will make you to watch the video in 20 or 50 years time.
