Cadillacs and weddings. They go together like, well, love and wedding vows. But what is it about the charm of these luxury vehicles that still holds our fascination? We spoke with Wayne Perry, owner and chauffeur of Caddyman Cadillac Car Hire, and we were reminded why some things never lose their appeal…
Cadillac’s status as a prestigious luxury automobile brand has been established over many decades, with various models contributing to its reputation. Whether it’s the plush interiors, powerful performance, or iconic aesthetics, Cadillacs continue to captivate enthusiasts and symbolise status and prestige.
The decades that solidified Cadillac’s status was particularly during the 1950s and 1960s. During this time, Cadillac produced iconic models such as the Eldorado, DeVille, and Fleetwood, which were synonymous with luxury, style, and innovation. These vehicles helped to cement its status as a symbol of luxury and prestige in the automotive world, even to this day.
Hollywood celebrities (distinguished and notorious) also appreciated Cadillacs. Al Capone, Shirley Temple and Marilyn Monroe were proud owners of a 928 Cadillac Model 341 Town Sedan, 1938 Series 90 V16 and 1954 Eldorado Convertible respectively.
Turning dreams into reality
Still to this day, many couples dream of making a grand entrance on their wedding day in a luxury Cadillac. And this is what inspired Wayne Perry of Caddyman Cadillac Car Hire to start his business.
“We love making people happy and we love classic cars. So it’s an absolute pleasure to combine the two things we love the most and deliver an amazing service to people who appreciate our cars.”
All about the (car) angles
Wayne adds, “We have the ability to make our guests feel relaxed at what can be a very nervous time for them. We also know the best angles to capture our cars so the photographers can capture the best photos.”
His favourite part about weddings? “Being a part of the family and seeing the bride for the first time.” And Wayne really does feel like a part of the family. He recalls one time when “the bride surprised her dad with our Cadillac. It brought tears not only to her dad’s eyes, but to mine too.”
