Check Out Something BorrowedEasy Weddings: Hi, Adam! Tell us, how did Something Borrowed start? And what has it become since then?
We started as two best mates wanting to play a few gigs here and there while we worked our day jobs. Now, we have been full-time musicians for eleven years, we have won four states and one national Australian Bridal Award for best wedding entertainment, and we have other incredible duos available and working for us.
Over the years, you’ve received 150+ glowing reviews here on Easy Weddings! How do you ensure your clients always have an amazing experience when working with Something Borrowed?
We make sure we have every detail of the run sheet for our client’s big day, and we are easily accessible. We reply to emails and calls quickly and try to make the lead-up as simple and as enjoyable for our clients as we can. With the proper preparation, the wedding day comes easy for us. All we have to do is concentrate on doing what we do best… entertain!
Read Their Glowing ReviewsYou offer an array of customisable music packages for weddings — which is your most popular?
Definitely the full ceremony and reception package. That’s your whole entertainment booked for the day. From start to finish.
What do you love most about performing at weddings?
It’s never work. It’s a pleasure. It sounds corny, but it really is. It never gets old playing an absolute tear-jerker as the bride/groom walks down the aisle. It never gets old performing while the newlyweds have their first dance together. It never gets old having a dancefloor jam-packed with people just having a great time to our music.
We’d love to know your favourite tracks to play during the ceremony and reception. Do you have any fave songs or most popular requests?
Our most requested ceremony song is Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis, but recently, I was asked to sing The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel. I’d never heard it before. I could barely keep it together while singing it. It’s just beautiful. This would have to be my favourite performance at a ceremony so far.
For the reception, we just try to make sure every song is an absolute banger. It’s funny how good songs stand the test of time. We still get 20-year-old guests requesting songs like Sweet Caroline, Horses, and Jessie’s Girl. My favourite reception song to sing is definitely Mr Brightside by The Killers.
Why do you think it’s important to have great music at a wedding?
Music is the make or break of a great wedding reception. Music changes the atmosphere, which means it changes the mood and overall vibe of the wedding day. Great music = great atmosphere. Terrible music = terrible atmosphere.
