American technology billionaire Sean Parker has married singer-songwriter Alexander Lenas in a $10 million fantasy-themed wedding celebration over the weekend.
Parker, who invented Napster and co-founded Facebook, released the photo above giving the world its first official glimpse of his Game of Thrones-esque nuptials.
The photo shows the newlyweds about to kiss in one of the storybook woodlands surrounding Ventana Inn and Spa, the boutique venue he hired out for his big day.
Much of Parker’s $10 million wedding budget went towards turning the hotel, in California’s swanky Big Sur, into an opulent and magical fantasy wonderland, complete with ruins, a waterfall and long medieval feast-style tables .
Of course, we know no cost was spared on clothing for the day. Not only was Elie Saab hired to design Alex’s dress, Parker hired Ngila Dickson, the Academy Award-winning costume designer for The Lord of the Rings movies, to design his outfit, as well as the outfits of guests, each of whom was provided with a themed costume.
Wow!
Parker, who was protrayed by Justin Timberlake in the movie The Social Network, also hired a landscaping company to turn the hotel’s grounds into a fantasy wonderland, complete with ponds and bridges. The entire affair was co-ordinated by celebrity stylist Preston Bailey and the invitations are said to have been in the shape of wizard scrolls.
Unfortunately, Parker, 33, didn’t apply for the appropriate planning permits to make the changes and was promptly fined a whopping $2.5 million by the California Coastal Commission.
“We’re pretty used to celebrities being in Big Sur. But for this one, they’ve basically built a movie set to have their wedding,’ Stan Russell, head of the city’s chamber of commerce, told The San Jose Mercury.
About 300 of the couple’s closest friends and family attended the glamourous nuptials, including Sting, Emma Watson and Sean Lennon.
He later added another tweet: “On the other hand, nothing exceeds like excess.”
Another guest, Jacqueline Laurita, from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, shared several pictures on Twitter and gushed, “Words can not even describe how beautiful the wedding I went to yesterday was/
“Nothing like I’ve ever seen. I felt like I was in a fairy [tale].”
Parker proposed to Alex, 24, in February 2011. They have a daughter together, Winter Victoria Parker.
