If you’re partial to a nice piece of wedding cake, boy, have the folk at online auction house PFC auctions got the motherload for you. Up for sale are pieces of wedding cake from several royal nuptials, including Prince William’s April 2011 wedding to Kate Middleton.
The souvenir piece is up for sale by one of the 650 people, all close friends, and family members, who attended the couple’s afternoon reception at Buckingham Palace.
Like the other recipients, the anonymous seller received a piece of the Fiona Cairns designed cake along with a printed With Compliments slip from TRH The Prince of Wales and The Dutchess of Cornwall all of which are housed in a yellow and gold coloured tin commissioned and designed by Peter Windett and Sally Mangum.
At the time of writing, the highest bid was about £1000.
Also up for sale is a lot of three pieces of cake, from the 1981 wedding of William’s parents, Prince Charles and Lady Diana, his uncle, Prince Andrew’s 1986 nuptials to Sarah Ferguson and even a perfectly preserved piece from Princess Anne’s 1973 wedding to Captain Mark Phillips.
Hope the winner has a stomach of steel!
