Actor Neil Patrick Harris has married his partner of 10 years, chef David Burtka, in an intimate Italian wedding ceremony over the weekend.
The multi-talented star of stage and screen announced the news on his Twitter account, writing: Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the ‘n’ and ‘d’ in ‘husband’.
The couple became engaged in 2011 when New York legalised gay marriage, however, they had proposed to one another five years earlier.
Dressed in matching Tom Ford tuxedos, Neil and David were serenaded by close friend Elton John and the ceremony was presided over by Pam Fryman, who produced/directed How I Met Your Mother, which Neil most recently acted in.
His management also confirmed the news saying, “We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family.”
Neil and David have two children, Gideon and Harper.
