When actress Jennifer Aniston and her screenwriter beau, Justin Theroux, married in a surprise Los Angeles ceremony last week, two famous faces were missing from the guest list, Jen’s Friends co-stars Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc.
While both Courteney Cox (who was Jen’s Maid of Honour) and Lisa Kudrow were amongst the attendees, it seems that the men formerly known as Chandler and Joey didn’t quite make the cut when it came to Jen’s nearest and dearest.
But the boys didn’t seem too bothered about the snub.
“I think they’re a great couple,” Matt told People. “I think she’s happy. And that’s all I care about is that Jen’s happy.
“If she wanted me there, I would have been there.”
Matt, who played loveable Lothario Joey Tribbiani on the hit series, indicated that there were no hard feelings amongst the cast and revealed it wasn’t the first time he’d missed one of Jen’s weddings.
“I missed when she married Brad [Pitt],” he told People. “I was in Austria working. She called me, and she was like, ‘You’re really not coming to my wedding?’ And I was like, ‘I asked them if they could change the schedule. I would fly and clap and fly out.’ And they said, ‘We can’t do it. It’s too tight.’ It was a small-budget movie in Austria you’ve never heard of. Probably should have left anyway, but s— happens. What are you going to do?”
“Jen’s like my little sister,” he added. “Courteney [Cox] and Lisa [Kudrow] are like my big sisters, but Jen’s like my little sister. Matthew’s like my little brother, and David [Schwimmer]‘s like my big brother. That’s how it all broke down. And it’s literally just like chronological.”
Matthew Perry, who played Courteney Cox’s love-interest Chandler Bing on Friends, seemed more impressed that the couple had managed to pull off the surprise nuptials.
“It was a surprise to me as well,” Matthew said. “They’re a lovely couple, and I’m happy for them. I wasn’t invited. So what can you do?”
