Despite rumours of a them planning a lavish, multi-million dollar wedding, Janet Jackson and her billionaire Qatari businessman boyfriend Wissam Al Mana wed in a small, “quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony” late last year.
Yep. Talk about being able to keep a secret!
The couple only this week announced their nuptials. They did so in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, saying” The rumours regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony.
“Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favourite children’s charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet.”
Janet, 46, has been dating Wissam, 37, since mid 2010 and, she says, their nine-year age difference means nothing.
“My mother always raised us to believe that age was just a number,” says Janet, the late Michael Jackson’s baby sister.
“All of us – my sisters, my brothers – we’ll just tell you our ages because it’s all about where you are mentally and how you feel about yourself. It doesn’t matter.”
This is Janet’s third marriage. The notoriously private singer was married to soul singer James DeBarge (1984) and music video producer René Elizonda, Jr. (from 1991 to 2000).
Congrats to them both!
