Meet Jake EdgleyEasy Weddings: Hi Jake! How did you get into the wedding music business? And how long have you been a wedding musician?
I was advertising my music services generally and started getting booked for weddings. Eventually, I realised the wedding gigs made me the happiest, so I focused on them more and more. I did my first wedding in 2012 and actually went back and read the correspondence not long ago. My prices have gone up a little bit since those days 😂
All of your reviews here on Easy Weddings are absolutely glowing! What do your couples love most about working with you?
Couples love my passion when treating their special day as if it was my own and doing everything I can to make it epic.
We hear you appeared on The Voice! Can you tell us about your experience and how this inspired your wedding music business?
2013 was a great year for The Voice! I had an amazing time and met lifelong friends through the experience. It enabled me to switch to music full-time, and everything snowballed from there. I picked up a good number of followers from the show, and business really picked up on all fronts. For weddings, you need a lot of experience and top-end gear — The Voice helped me get a lot of both!
How far in advance should couples book their wedding musicians?
I’d recommend booking at least 12 months out from the wedding day if you want a decent shot at me being free! 😇
Enquire With Jake HereWhat are some of your favourite songs to play at weddings?
My favourite songs to perform live are Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley, Better Together by Jack Johnson, and Yellow by Coldplay.
When I’m DJing at weddings, some of my top tracks are September by Earth, Wind & Fire, Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees, December 1963 (Oh, What a Night) by Frankie Valli, Mickey by Toni Basil, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston, Move Your Feet by Junior Senior, and Mr Brightside by The Killers.
RnB is definitely my favourite genre to mix, but I really just love to read a crowd and see what song suits their vibe, whether it be live or DJing.
Are you happy to cater for song requests?
Absolutely. Requests can make a night!
