We love to see couples who go that extra mile to have the wedding of their dreams, and for some of them, dreams are made out of superheroes, space wars, wizards or fairytales. So we want to celebrate them and inspire you to go for it! Throw that themed wedding if it makes your soul happy. In today’s episode, we present “When fans get married: Fandom weddings to inspire your inner geek.” So accio your best mates, live long and prosper and may the force be with you!
Harry Potter
Bride and groom Anna Muehlenhaupt and Russell transformed a rustic building in Brooklyn into an extension of Hogwarts.
The couple spent months crafting decorations for their Harry Potter themed wedding.
The Hand of Glory (as Harry Potter fans will know) was part of the table decorations and the set-up included a wand as a bomboniere.
For the guest book, the couple chose a Marauder’s Map for their guests to sign and leave some magical advice for the newlyweds.
B-horror movie
Taya and Mika went for a B-horror movie-themed wedding and they did a great job incorporating horror movie elements into their big day.
The bride wore a beautiful skull hairpiece embellished with flowers.
Their wishing well table featured camp elements very Crystal Lake-like.
For the table centrepieces, bloody axes and wood were the main elements while camping lanterns brought the moody vibe.
Little Mermaid
For this styled shoot, Your Cloud Parade teamed with singer Traci Hines to create an amazing Little Mermaid inspired wedding.
The dessert table looked picture perfect with ocean-inspired macarons and a lovely mermaid cake.
For the table set-up they used turquoise sequin cloths and golden cutlery, adorned with golden starfish.
The bride look couldn’t be complete with the seashell necklace. And the bridesmaids looked their best as Ariel’s sisters from the movie.
Star Wars
Can you have a Star Wars wedding that looks elegant and romantic? Yes! Jennifer and Joshua threw the chicest geeky-themed wedding ever! Which by the way was the bride’s idea and not the grooms (which makes it even more amazing).
Starting with her lovely crystal stormtrooper belt, the perfect way to add some shine to her dress.
The flower girls wore Princess Leia buns and beautiful tulle dresses.
The reception was white with silver accents such as the interiors of some the ships in Star Wars, and the table names used references from the movies.
And what about the beautiful wedding cake? Featuring a lovely couple of Wampas as the cake topper and some of the spaceships such as the Millennium Falcon, X-wing Fighter and others.
Game of thrones
Cosplayer Ty and her fiance made every fan dream true in a styled shoot as Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow’s wedding by The Bridal Suite & Special Occasion.
The best man wore a hand of the king button, cause who is better to give advice to the groom? Exactly.
A DIY dragon egg was the perfect place to keep the rings safe, and what about that dragon looking ring and wolf symbol of the House Stark?
The cake topper couldn’t be anything other than a dragon (it is the mother of dragons wedding) and don’t forget that winter is coming! Well not anymore cause GOT is gone, so for all fans, winter will never be the same.
Superheroes
For Bianca and Troy, an ‘elegant nerd extravaganza’ as they called their wedding was the way to go, including a Batman celebrant! As Troy proposed with a comic book montage, little did he know that he created the stepping stone for their wedding theme.
The garter featured iconic superhero emblems and a cute blue bow.
The groom wore a rose made out of comic books including blue leaves (as blue was the main wedding colour).
The bridesmaids and the bride rocked matching comic converses.
And to add a nice little detail to the look, the groom wore Captain America cufflinks.
Super Mario
This Super Mario Bros themed wedding shoot is the perfect example that a themed wedding can be chic too. So if you are a Mario fan, you might find some inspiration here.
With a vibrant colour palette, Primary Petals styled the perfect florals including little red mushrooms, which are one of the most important things in the video game.
The cake was simple yet beautiful, made by La Flor de Yucatan.
The wedding favours couldn’t be anything other than cute little plants.
